About Dr. James Zolzer, COE Director
James G. Zolzer, MD, FACOG, and the team at Lakeshore Women’s Specialists serve residents throughout the state of North Carolina, including the towns of Mooresville, Davidson, Huntersville and Lake Norman. Dr. Zolzer graduated from Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C. He went on to complete his OB-GYN residency at Albany Medical Center of Union University of Albany, NY, and East Carolina University, located in Greenville, NC. The doctor also received a B.S. degree in Biology from Siena College located in Loudonville, NY.
Dr. Zolzer began practicing OB-GYN medicine in 1989 while in the U.S. Navy, which took him from North Carolina to the Philippines and Iceland. After completing his four-year agreement the Navy, Dr. Zolzer entered into private practice in 1993. Dr. Zolzer and his wife, who is a nurse, continue to further their education so that they can provide the best care possible to all patients.
He has experience working as Clinical Professor for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the School of Medicine at East Carolina University, establishing two private practices and has performed numerous lectures and presentations.
Dr. Zolzer also has experience serving as Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology and on the Medical Executive Committee at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. After joining Dr. Adams in 2005, the doctors have created a family of staff members and a comfortable and friendly environment where their patients can expect the highest level of care.

About Brenda Burk, Director of Surgical Services
Brenda Burk, RN is a Board-Certified Nurse Executive (NEA-BC) with 30+ years in Healthcare. Brenda was born and raised in South Africa, where she received a Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery with Honors in Nursing Science and Art.
Brenda worked as a Midwife in South Africa. Brenda’s Operating Room career began in 1987 after immigrating to the USA. She became a CNOR in 2005 and a CSSM in 2018. Brenda currently works as the Director of Surgical Services at LNRMC. Brenda received a MSN in 2014.
As her Capstone project Lateral Violence in a Perioperative Setting was researched. This led to Brenda being selected as an advisory member of the ANA Professional Issues Panel on Incivility, Bullying, and Workplace Violence (2105). Brenda, a professional speaker presents at national nursing conferences on Incivility in Nursing.
Brenda is passionate about all things surgical and represents Community Health Systems on the HealthTrust Surgery Advisory Board.

About Dr. Meetesh Desai, COE Director
Dr. Desai attended college and medical school in Miami, Florida at the The University of Miami. He completed his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He was an administrative chief resident of OB/GYN at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Desai is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is accredited by the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (www.AIMIS.org).Dr. Desai is the chief of surgery at AdventHealth Daytona Beach.
Outside of work Dr. Desai enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He enjoys golfing, playing soccer and running.
